THE ORIGIN OF PRESERVE HOPE

OUR ORIGIN

THE ORIGIN OF PRESERVE HOPE

It was precisely under the inspiration of Toussaint Louverture, the founder of the world’s first black republic (Haiti), that the organization Preserve Hope was founded. This hero who marked our history, inspired me by his courage, his determination and his virtues with which he broke the chains of slavery. He is for me the greatest role model of my life and without his motivations, this vision would not have come true.

Toussaint Louverture was also the first to establish education in Haiti. In his strategy, education was a privileged means to lay the foundations of an autonomous state. In fact, this educational policy consisted, among other things, in organizing an instruction committee, creating schools and promoting the intervention of European educators to educate its population.

Article 68 of the first constitution of Haiti of 1801 (Constitution drafted under the authority of General Toussaint-Louverture, premise of the first decolonization in the history of the French Republic), stipulated: “Anyone has the right to form particular educational establishments for the education of young people under the authorization and supervision of municipal administrations.”
